Course Description

One Day for the Ankle

A series of new soft tissue releases for the ankle region are presented with techniques taught for the plantar fascia, posterior and anterior compartments, and the interosseus membrane. These will establish pliancy and responsiveness in the myofasciae so that specific joint restrictions can then be addressed. There will be gentle and effective mobilising techniques taught for the talus, fibula and calcaneus.

Participants can expect a fun day with noticeable changes in their own feet and ankles as one of the many outcomes. More importantly participants will leave with a greatly improved ability to treat restrictions at the ankle and see them in relation to the lower extremities, and pelvis.

Correct function at the ankle is the basis of a feed forward mechanism for the normal action of the SIJs. When the hinge in the ankle works correctly the innomminate bones can move properly in relation to the sacrum and adequate "force-closure" of the SIJs occurs. This in turn transmits forces into the trunk, a necessary component of a normal, efficient gait.
